Katherine Wiswell is a young dramatic Mezzo Soprano educated and now performing mainly in the New York Metropolitan area. Just before the COVID-19 Pandemic, she was pleased to make her international debut in the role of “Marcellina” in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro in Berlin, Germany under the baton of Maestro Peter Leonard and the stage direction of Nina Brazier as a Young Artist with the esteemed Berlin Opera Academy. “Katherine Wiswell’s Marcellina was particularly adept at merging technical mastery with truth in storytelling,” claimed the The Prickle - Smart Arts Reviews.

Ms. Wiswell’s versatility is well evidenced by the many roles she has performed including: Azucena (Il Trovatore), Mère Marie (Dialogues des carmélites), Marcellina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Annina and Flora (La Traviata), Suzuki (Madame Butterfly), Mallika (Lakme), and Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor), amongst others. 

Ms. Wiswell greatly enjoys concertizing and was thrilled to perform as the mezzo soloist in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy in David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center. During her educational years, Ms. Wiswell participated as a soloist in Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Mozart’s Requiem. She was also pleased to perform as choral support for several tours with Josh Groban in the NYC Metro area in 2015-16. In addition, Ms. Wiswell greatly enjoyed several professional soloist engagements with the Rockland Camerata, performing in Vivaldi’s Dixit Dominus and Mozart’s Regina Coeli.

Ms. Wiswell is a resident of New York City and studies with internationally acclaimed soprano, Shelley Jameson. Although she loves living in a bustling city, she is proud of her rural upbringing, as she was raised in Upstate New York on her family’s small dairy farm.
